i'm too old for this shit

dinner with a teacher friend, college buddy and "surprise guest" turned into a full-fledged night out. it's 2:22 and i just got home. i am taking a friend to the airport at 7 am. the "surprise guest" turned out to be another teacher i knew back in my americorps days. good times were had by all. but now i think i'm gonna die of exhaustion. sigh. how these 30something friends of mine do it, i'll never know.

When old friends are around, you tend to want to burn the candle at both ends and the midnight oil, too. At my college reunion recently, I stayed up very late and drank too much one night. I had the worst hangover of my life the next morning. This never happened when I was 20. So, yeah, even us kids in our latetwentys can't handle it. I couldn't wait to get back home and to the nights where I'd be curled up in bed by 11 pm, knitting or reading.
